The Blitzs have left Breckenridge[and missing it alot] to be in beautiful downtown Boulder. We've been lazy about blogging because we're having to much fun biking, hiking yoga-ing and entertaining! We have a great loft on the east side of Pearl St, again walking distance to town where all the action is. Pearl St. for all of you who haven't been here is like the 3rd St. Promenade. Always something going on. We discovered as in SM there is a coffee shop and yoga studio on every corner. Carly and her boyfriend Ari came in and we skiied closing day at Breck. It was one big party on and off the mountain. Devon of course has been with us alot because anythings better than a dorm and dorm food! She misses her Moms cooking. Remember those days!
Anyway so to add to our B places, Barcelona is our next destination. We will be there starting June 9th for two weeks. Then on a boat to sail in the Balearics for 2 weeks. Can't wait to speak Spanish on a daily basis and drink good red wine in Rioja Valley, which we will do while touring the rest of Spain. We will also be seeing the Running of the Bulls and maybe catch the Tour de France along the way. Will return to LA to take Devon back to school in August.
For those of you who know and love Tasha she's a happy camper at our friends house in the Palisades. She gets more attenton than she knows what to do with. hope all is well with all of you. Stay in touch. Love, Tracey and Howard

Breckenridge March 13, update

And so we continue our adventure in Breckenridge, have met people in town to hang out with. Our closest friend Robert from Santa Fe is also "on the road". Snow has been good some good "pow" days not Canada worthy but skiing in general has been real good. Beaver Creek is our favorite place. Cross country skiing has been a new passion, and days when the skiing does not look great head to the back country for cross country. Most days are quite busy in the morning as Howard works, and Tracey takes care of all the normal things that need to be done. We do manage to get out for activities most everyday at least for a few hours. Took a few days last week to go to New York to see Carly in a dance show she was great. This weekend we have a family re-union with Carly and her boyfriend coming in and Devon coming up from Boulder. We are here in Breck for another two weeks then will be back in LA for a week then to Boulder for a month where we have rented a loft downtown here it is http://www.fourstarrealty.com/residentialrentals/listings/2060+Pearl+Street Hope o catch up on my bike riding there is supposed to be some good riding there. Hope everyone is well. Picture is of the ski mountain from town. I am trying tofigure out how to link to my Picassa site so more pics can be viewed stand by.Howard and Tracey

Back in Breck

Have not been good at posting but will try to do a weekly post. Today was another blue bird beautiful day here. We spent about a week in Los Angeles catching up on some business, visitng Tasha and checking in with Tracey's father. Was nice to see all our friends but it was nice to get back to Colorado. Leaving LA we went to Boulder for a few days with Devon and visiting a couple friends in Boulder. The St. Julien hotel is a wonderful place to spend a few days if you find yourself in Boulder. After Boulder we headed back to Breckenridge in the middle of a snowstorm (yeh!). We are in a condo in the same complex we were before but have a nicer unit and as before we can walk to main street and ski home from the slopes. We have settled right back into life here (it is easy to do). Have had some excellent days skiing and have been getting back into cross country skiing, and we try to get into the gym to spin as often as possible and of course We have been to yoga and strength training classes. Howard has been working mornings and playing in afternoons (unless it is a pow day). The big decision we need to make is where to head after Breck. Suggestions are welcome!! Breck always has events going on and one of the real fun ones was the International Ice Sculpting competition. The picture upper left is one of the designs there were about twenty different teams from around the world, The other picture is from Beaver Creek one of our favorite places to ski. meantime we are waiting for the next storm...Tuesday?

Breckenridge, CO

On Friday, Jan 16th we left 939 24th Street with our Jeep Cherokee packed to the hilt and our dog Tasha with barely any room to sit. We dropped her off at her new home in the Santa Monica Canyons and continued on to Las Vegas. We spent the night there and the next morning drove 6 hours to Richfield, UT. From there we had the last 6 hr. drive to Breckenridge, CO
Today marks the end of the first week of our new adventure. As Howard says"we're not on vacation... this is life!" Its been snowing here and is beautiful. We're staying in a great condo walking distance to the Main Street. There has been a special event going on all week; Ice Sculptors from all over the world were given a very large block of ice to create gorgeous works of art. We have been truly blown away. We've skiied this mountain and Beaver Creek so far, but there are several more areas to explore. One of the days we packed a lunch and went snow shoeing on a designated trail right outside the town. About 5 minutes down the road from here is a beautiful Recreation Center where we have been able to do all the workouts we enjoy. Devon has come from Boulder to visit here twice already. Carly has been enjoying her last semester at Barnard College, eager to graduate. Best wishes to everyone, and to a successful new year.
With Love,
Howard and Tracey

A New Beginning

As I leave the house, my room in boxes, a slight feeling of nostalgia takes over my body. I begin to replace college as my new home because the house is no longer mine, but I quickly push that thought out of my head because in the words of my mother, "home is where your family is- you don't have to have a house to call home." During the past nine years in the beautiful Spanish-style house created from her visions, I have watched Carly go off to college, Tasha get older, statues and masks accumulate, and my parent's desire to travel and explore grow. So, although the sad thought of leaving is present, the happiness that both my sister and I get from watching our parents do what they have always wanted becomes so much more prevalent. In essence, we have all begun a new chapter of our lives: Carly, soon to graduate from Columbia University and begin working in "the real world" (a place we have avoided for so long), me, in my my first year of college, snowboarding as often as possible and studying at The University of Colorado at Boulder, and my parents, leaving (almost) all their material objects behind to relax, ski, and begin their adventures around the world. Carly and I have wished our parents an amazing journey ahead of them and to make the most out of this new experience, and I hope that all of their friends and loved ones will do the same.

With Love,
Devon
